The Black Stars coach has no plans to quit his job as being reported in the Ghanaian media and returns from the US today to meet GFA officials. Ghana coach Kwesi Appiah has denied rumours about his intended resignation, Goal Ghana can confirm.
Appiah, who is on an extended two-year contract with the Ghana FA, has confided in close associates that he has no intention of leaving his post.
“The news came as a shock to me that I have resigned or will be resigning, it is never true and I have not thought of it at all,” the 54-year-old told a close family member, Goal can reveal.
It was reported widely that the former Ghana international was gearing up to pack should the football governing body in his west African country decides to rope in a foreign technical director for the Black Stars ahead of the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
Appiah, who will be returning from South Africa on Thursday, is expected to meet GFA officials to clarify that aspect of the news because he has no knowledge about it as the head of the technical bench.
Appiah is reportedly earning $25,000 after tax in his new two-year contract extension as coach of the Black Stars. He was employed in April 2012 and has led Ghana to an Afcon and a World Cup in 2013 and 2014 respectively.
